Swizz Beatz shared his take on the viral embrace between his wife and the reigning King Of R&B.
On Sunday (Feb. 11), Alicia Keys joined Usher for his Super Bowl LVIII halftime show and the two musicians’ chemistry was on full display. Dressed in a fiery red, sequined costume, the New York native began at a glossy red piano, starting her solo record “If I Ain’t Got You.”
The scene transitioned as Usher reappeared in an all-white outfit, complete with one sparkling white glove, joining Keys to finish her ballad. As the performance continued, the energy shifted as the duo began their hit record “My Boo.”
Released almost two full decades ago, the flirtatious song inspired an intimate showcase from the two R&B singers in full performance mode. Not missing a synonymous step, the two musicians shared a loving hug as Jermaine Dupri introduced the next segment of the performance.
The moment went viral, as it reminded fans how Usher managed to charm a handful of women including Doja Cat, Keke Palmer, Saweetie, Winnie Harlow, Kenya Moore, Kimora Lee Simmons, Taraji P. Henson, Issa Rae, and more during his Las Vegas residency, living up to his infamous “U Don’t Have To Call” intro lyrics.
Catching wind of the jokes, Swizz Beatz responded to his wife’s centerstage conduct.
“Y’all talking about the wrong damn thing !!!,” wrote the super producer on Instagram early Monday morning. “Tonight’s performance was nothing but amazing with 2 amazing Giants! Congrats @usher and my love @aliciakeys that song is a classic.”
He continued to explain “We don’t do negative vibes on this side we make history.”
The “Girl On Fire” performer was not the only special guest during Usher’s on-field moment. The nearly 14-minute performance featured appearances from H.E.R., Lil Jon, and Ludacris.
“This night was specifically curated in my mind to have R&B take the main stage,” teased the “Yeah!” performer ahead of the big night. “Not just R&B music, but R&B performance, R&B connection, R&B spirit.”
